Its hearty, meaty, and satisfying. Goulash is a flavourful dish, thats a classic and so easy to throw together!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 1 can (680ml) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (796ml) diced tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons gluten free soy sauce, or coconut aminos
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon seasoning salt, or to taste
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 box gluten free macaroni

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat oil in large stockpot or dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the ground beef crumbling, add onions and garlic and allow to cook for a couple minutes. Drain if needed.
  2. Stir in water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, Italian seasoning, seasoning salt, and bay leaves. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add box of macaroni, cover, and simmer over medium heat until pasta is tender, 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, discard bay leaves, and serve.

TIPS

  • Be prepared for leftovers. This makes a lot of food.
  • Coconut aminos are gluten free, soy free, and contain very few ingredients. The cost is more than traditional soy sauce. I purchase a huge bottle of coconut aminos which reduces the cost considerably. I use this jug to refill a small squeeze bottle for easy use.
  • For gluten free pasta, I usually use Catelli brand. Its easy to find and turns out well.
